” Too many people use being scared as an excuse for not trying. You may fail, try anyway. That’s how you grow. That’s how you do incredible things.”
It’s 100% okay to reach for greatness in life, but first, you must ensure that you’re psychologically, mentally, morally, and physically determined for it. No one said it’s going to be easy, but it is possible. There are lots of reasons as to why it is important for us to strive to reach for greatness in life in every aspect of our lives, but most importantly, it is the energy source that powers our lives.
Leo Rosa Borges, a creativity expert has this to say, “Creativity, intelligence, character and virtue will be necessary. But they won’t take you to greatness. Persistence will!
How high should we rise in life? I’d say as high and above the mountains. Let me start by reiterating my statement earlier, that there is absolutely nothing wrong in striving for greatness in life. The desire for more out of life is innate in every man and brought down to us by our ancestors. If they were comfortable with the levels they were in or the achievements they had, we wouldn’t be enjoying many of the advancements, developments, discoveries, we have around us today. They dug deeper and now it’s up to us to either dig in more or bask in old glories.
Some of us were born to be contributors to our families, communities, but we’ve been falling short. Some are born to be leaders, influencers, activists, philanthropists, but yet, have fallen short. When you ask many people on their sick beds, what they regret the most, their response is often, “I wish I had done more.” “If only I had fulfilled my dreams and ambitions.” And so on. The need to strive for greatness can never be overrated. Attaining greatness shouldn’t be only in our career paths, but also in health, relationships, self-development, mind, and the whole nine yards.
Understand that rising higher in life isn’t a walk in the parks. There’s more to it: It’s pushing harder when you’ve got your backs against the wall. It’s running to make the finish line when your feet are sore. It goes beyond getting a job and spending eight hours a day. There would be sweat and tears, hurts and pains, disappointments and losses. When you face difficult times, know that they are not sent to destroy you. They’re sent to promote, increase and strengthen you, only if you choose to see it that way. I challenge you to rise above your challenges and go beyond where you are now. Respect your life struggles, develop your skills and strengths. Your weaknesses are important, but focus more on your strength. Hone them as loud as you can.
Today we are in the midst of the longest and most challenging economic decline this country has ever experienced, yet we are creating millionaires every day contrary to popular believe or reports.
According to Andrew Christian, owner of weetracker.com – “Africa is minting and brewing its league of millionaires.” Regardless of the report issued by Credit Suisse – a multinational investment company in the 2019 Global Wealth Databook by as revealed a world map of millionaires for this year. Naming Africa has the least amount of millionaires.
Andrew Christian further stated that, “African millionaires are on the rise. While taking account of the current wealth levels of various countries, as well as population growth estimates and anticipated investment opportunities, the researchers discovered what Africa could very well pride itself in. The West African Nation of Nigeria, amazingly, emerged the front runner in the millionaires’ chart forecast. According to the report, the most populous black nation’s high net worth is going to balloon by a compound annual rate of 16.3 percent between now and 2030. Nigeria was closely followed by Egypt at 12.5 percent, while Kenya came seventh with 9.8 percent.”
Nigeria is like the Emerald City of OZ with roads of gold. We have riches and wealth like never before. It’s your choice to tap into this wealth and resources and become a greater, better version of yourself. Your destiny is yours to determine. I encourage you to rise to the standards set by the greatest generation.
Surround yourself with people of like minds as you. Communicate with the right coaches, find inspiration from everything around you and be great, for most of your strength lies in your scars.
You can’t be on the right track if you’re surrounded by the wrong people, you will get stuck in a stereotypical way of thinking, which often leads to destructive lifestyles. Search and reach out to people who got it right in your field, learn the ropes from them, and improve on yourself. Change your perception of life. There’s more to accomplish out there.
We’ve all got different beliefs and value systems. We can either choose to rise higher in some areas of our lives and choose not to in other areas. Ironic as it may sound, we are all guilty of this. This shouldn’t be so. Poverty is a wrong mentality. You can have billions and still have a wrong mentality. As we strive to rise higher both in mind, health, career, dreams, goals, we should ensure that; it’s based on principles, what is good and not on what feels good, based on what is correct and not on what is cool. It should be based on morality, not on immorality, based on what is excellent, not on what is easy, based on what is prudence, not on what is popular. Based on character, not on what is convenient. It shouldn’t be based on what everyone thinks, but on what God thinks.
Most importantly, it shouldn’t be based on Nollywood, but on honor and dignity.
Run to win. Create. Be resourceful. Keep a look out for new opportunities, re-strategize and improve continuously.
By all means, take ownership of your life and reach as high as you haven’t imagined.
Best wishes ❤️💕
